General Information
Airlines serving the Milan area are landing at THREE airports. Therefore we are trying to do our best, but rides providing the transportation among these airports and the Hotels are necessarily limited.
The timetable of the buses from the 3 airports to the Conference Hotels is the following:
June 7
From Malpensa airport – Terminal 1: bus 52 seats at 11.30, 15.00, 19.30 and 23.00
Local Assistance: Leaving the baggage claim area, you will enter the “ARRIVALS”. Look for the sign “MEETING POINT” in front of Exit 4 (inside the building). There will be a lady holding a board with NHS 2010 . Please be patient and wait for her assistance
From Linate airport: bus 52 seats at 11.30, 15.00, 19.30 and 23.00
Local Assistance: Leaving the baggage claim area , on your right look for the “INFORMAZIONI /INFORMATION DESK” a lady holding a board with NHS 2010 will be waiting there. Be patient and wait for her assistance.
From Bergamo Orio al Serio: bus 52 seats at 12.00, 18.00 and 23.30
Local Assistance: Leaving the baggage claim area, you will enter the “ARRIVALS”. Look for the “TURISMO BERGAMO” booth, a lady holding a board with “NHS 2010” will be waiting there. Be patient and wait for her assistance.
June 8
From Malpensa airport – Terminal 1: bus 52 seats at 11.30

From Linate airport: bus 52 seats at 11.30.
Local Assistance: Leaving the baggage claim area , on your right look for the “INFORMAZIONI /INFORMATION DESK” a lady holding a board with NHS 2010 will be waiting there. Be patient and wait for her assistance.
From Bergamo Orio al Serio: bus 52 seats at 11.30
Local Assistance: Leaving the baggage claim area, you will enter the “ARRIVALS”. Look for the “TURISMO BERGAMO” booth, a lady holding a board with “NHS 2010” will be waiting there. Be patient and wait for her assistance.
Please note:
The conference starts at 14.00 on June 8 therefore we are not planning to provide any ride after 11.30. If your flight lands afterwards, please let us know at the latest by June 3 at nhs@polimi.it and if this is the case for a minimum number of attendees, we will try to arrange some alternative transportation.
June 10
At 15.00 a bus will leave from Villa Erba Congress Center to the Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio airport.
Airport Connections:
From Milano MALPENSA airport to COMO:
(distance: about 35 km)
By TRAIN to Milano Cadorna Station and from Milano Cadorna Station to Como Malpensa Express trains connect Malpensa directly with the centre of Milan (Milano Cadorna Railway Station).
Trains depart every 30 minutes, the journey takes about 40 minutes. At the Milano Cadorna Railway Station catch the train to Como Nord Lago. Trains depart more or less every 30 minutes.
- From Milano LINATE airport to COMO:
(distance: about 50 km)
Get the bus to Milano Stazione Centrale (Milano Centrale Railway Station) - departure from the arrivals floor — that leaves from 6.05 am to 11.45 pm every 30 minutes.
The ticket costs about € 3.00 and can be bought at Agenzia Starfly Linate.
From Milano Centrale railway Station, catch the train to Como San Giovanni, departures are more or less every hour.
- From ORIO AL SERIO airport (Bergamo) to COMO:
Catch the bus to Milano Stazione Centrale (Milano Centrale Railway Station), it leaves every 30 minutes from 4.00 am.
The ticket costs about € 6,70.
From Milano Centrale railway Station, catch the train to Como San Giovanni, departures more or less every hour.
By train:
- Ferrovie Nord Milano (www.ferrovienord.it): Departures from Piazza Cadorna, Milan, train for COMO Lago; alight at the last stop, COMO Lago. Outside the station is the bus stop for line CC6, COMO-Maslianico; alight at Villa Erba (www.sptlinea.it ). The journey is around 4km.
- Ferrovie dello Stato (www.trenitalia.com): Departures from Milano Centrale or from Milano Porta Garibaldi, destination Chiasso, alight at COMO San Giovanni. Outside the station is the bus stop for line CC6, COMO-Maslianico; alight at Villa Erba (www.sptlinea.it)
The journey is around 5km.
By car:
- From Milan take the A9 Milan-Chiasso motorway; take the COMO Nord exit (the last exit for Italy); then follow the signs for Villa Erba. Our multi-storey car park is 200m from the Conference Centre.
- From Lugano take the Lugano-Milan motorway; take the CERNOBBIO Lago exit 200 metres after customs.
From COMO to Cernobbio (Villa Erba Congress Center):
By BUS: Catch bus C6 (every 20 minutes) from Como Piazza Matteotti (in front of Como Nord Lago Station).
By BOAT: Boats from Como piazza Cavour depart more or less every 20 minutes to Cernobbio every day from 7.30 to

Taxi:
Rides from Malpensa or Linate Airport to Como or Cernobbio are rather expensive (about 100,00 euros).
